Dave and Karen,
I wanted to share with you a note that I am sending to the Lodge staff. I trust that my letter will be shared with all of them. I did attempt to leave a small gift for each of them, but I wanted you to be aware of the way in which they handled the final days of my mom’s life. I feel they should be commended for the support they offered to my mom as a patient and to our family as a whole. I can’t imagine that anything could have been better.
Mary Murphy’s daughter
Dear Lodge Staff,
I can’t begin to thank you for the wonderful care you gave to my mom, Mary Murphy. Throughout her 3 1/2 years at Cascades of the Sierra, I was always impressed with the caregivers.
Never did I feel a moment of concern or worry about Mom during her time with all of you.
Every time I visited, I was greeted by warm smiles, and I always enjoyed my time in the Lodge. It helped that Mom was generally easy going and easy to care for. I know she had her moments, but most of those seemed related to issues of personal care, and she was always a very modest woman.
I was so impressed with the love you showed Mom during her final days. We were all so comfortable spending those last few days in the environment of the Lodge. It was so touching to see so many of you individually come in and share your love and support for Mom and for us as a family. I am sure that many days are frustrating in your line of work, but I never witnessed that frustration, and I want you to know how much you are appreciated. You are truly angels on Earth. Thank you so much for spending those extra moments with my mom and for sharing your love and patience with her.
With extreme gratitude,
JoAnne Rotta & the family of Mary Murphy
